Jura of Switzerland was established in 1931 as a manufacturer of household electrical appliances. They made their first coffee machine in 1937 and have focused exclusively in the making of espresso coffee machines since the early 1990s. Jura produced their first fully automatic machine in 1986 and introduced the Impressa machine in 1994.

Jura's Impressa range combines the latest Swiss technology in a state-of-the-art fully automatic espresso and cappuccino maker. With many programmable functions these machines guide the user with plain language instructions on the LED display in one of a number of languages.

The Jura also range make use of a number of innovative technologies such as the Claris water filter designed to protect against lime scale, hardened conical grinding gears for prolonged life, the facility to work with ground coffee as well as beans and intelligent electronics and control system for straightforward use. Jura coffee machines make use of I.P.B.A.S.© (the Intelligent Pre Brew aroma System©) one of the secrets of perfect coffee, originally developed for gastronomy, the system was optimized by Jura. The coffee powder is moistened before the actual brewing process starts and the quantity of pre-brew water is adjusted to the powder quantity automatically. The result is a full aroma and a velvety crema.
